A.A.S. Nursing Program Fact Sheet

The Finger Lakes Community College A.A.S. Nursing Program provides the cognitive, affective, and psychomotor instruction necessary for students to become safe and caring practitioners. The nursing curriculum is faculty driven integrating local, state, national and global healthcare initiatives. The curriculum incorporates concepts from natural, behavioral and social sciences as well as the humanities, providing students with a broad understanding of self and cultural variability. Students are exposed to a wide range of learning opportunities engaging with individuals across the lifespan, at varying degrees of health, with a focus on improving quality of life. Upon program completion, the graduate will qualify to sit for the NCLEX-RN National Licensing Exam.

Enrollment Patterns

• 64 students are accepted into the Nursing program each fall and 64 students are accepted in the spring. Admission is highly competitive.
• Up to 14 Licensed Practical Nurses are accepted into the Accelerated Option for LPNs each spring and fall.

End-of-Program Student Learning Outcomes

At the end of the nursing program the new graduate will be able to:

• Provide safe, patient centered care for individuals and families across the lifespan in a variety of settings.
• Utilize clinical judgement based on current evidence to achieve optimal individual and family outcomes.
• Collaborate with individuals, families, and the interprofessional team to meet desired outcomes.

• Varied quantitative and psychomotor measures support that students achieve all end-of-program student learning outcomes.

National Licensing Exam (NCLEX-RN) pass rate:

• 95% (reporting period 1/1/23-12/31/23)

Program Completion Rate:

• 62% of students graduate within 6 semesters (150% of the time frame allotted for the program).
